Experience The Magic

Imagine. You’re lying on your back. It’s dark. Your eyes look straight up into the sky and you feel the rugged cold of the land beneath you. Stars scatter the sky by the millions.

The night is cold, crisp, and clear. Out of nowhere a thin veil of green wisps across the blackness – growing brighter and larger and more intense by the second. Finally, it falls across the sky like giant, velvet-soft ribbons dancing in the air. Vibrant pinks, reds, and violets appear – rippling and whirling with shapes that change in an instant!

And there you are, lying on your back, completely overtaken by the beauty and magic of nature’s most incredible phenomenon: The Aurora Borealis.

Now you know what got us started.

Aurora Village – in a class of its own

It’s a marvel that seems to embody the mysteries at the crossroads of Heaven and Earth in all of its elegance and raw beauty. For some, it moves them to tears; for others, it strikes them silent. And for us, well, we want to share the aurora with the world.

Our first operating season came in November of 2000 and since that time we have grown to become the premier aurora-viewing destination and northern lights holiday of choice. Known throughout the world, our multiple facilities, commitment to customer service, and ability to provide world class aurora-viewing for thousands of people each year is what has set us apart.

We look forward to welcoming you

Aurora Village is entirely Aboriginal-owned by Don and Gladys Morin, both of whom are born and raised, tried and true northerners.

Their experience with the north stretches from the 60th parallel along the NWT’s south border all the way north to the Beaufort Sea and essentially everywhere in between – so they know all the tricks to living in the north and have an important knowledge of safety so you can be sure that you will be taken care of.

Originally from Fort Resolution, a small hamlet in the Northwest Territories made up of mostly Chipewyan, Cree, and Metis people, they now call Yellowknife home and have made it their mission to share their Aboriginal heritage with others through Aurora Village.

We hope you enjoy your vacation!
