Product Description

This 70 minute boat tour will cruise Yellowknife Bay of the Great Slave Lake, the world’s 10th largest freshwater lake.  You will cruise through the local house boats, have a view of the city from the water, and see the vast ocean-like lake in the distance.  You will also experience some high speed runs on the clear water. You may see wild birds fly by, or even float planes taking-off and landing.

The boat will be one of our 26-foot traditional ‘war’ canoes, also known as freighter canoes. It is a big canoe fitted with a motor. Passenger safety is of our utmost importance. You will be provided with the proper safety gear.  The capacity of each cruiser is 12 guests.

The tour departs daily at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (August 13 until October 12). Minimum 2 people.   On-line booking will confirm 1:00pm departure only.  If you prefer 2:30pm, please email the office, or upon arrival in Yellowknife tell your guide at least one day in advance.

Please note we may have to cancel the cruise due to bad weather.  Full refund will be made in such case.

VERY IMPORTANT:    The cruise will depart from Old Town dock, behind Dancing Moose Café.   This tour price does NOT include transportation to get to the dock, and back.  You must arrive at the dock at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time.

You can enjoy walking around the Old Town before and after your cruise. There are shops and restaurants readily available in walking distance. You can also climb up to the Pilots’ Monument. It will give you a great panoramic view of the entire Yellowknife bay area. The leisurely walk from downtown is about 20 minutes. Taxi and city bus service is also available.
