Afternoon at Aurora Village
Dog Team Ride
Spend the afternoon at Aurora Village enjoying our most popular daytime activity. Your dog team ride will take you on a traditional sled for an exciting ride through the wooded trails surrounding Aurora Village. Then enjoy our Teepee Village by day – the giant slide, open fire and delicious food from our A La Carte menu.
You can meet the dogs and enjoy learning about one of the most important modes of transport in the north. These dogs are essential to life in arctic conditions and were relied on for centuries to stay alive. You will understand the community love and respect for animals in the Northwest Territories.
When the time comes, you will slide into a cozy sled with you and a friend or two. The full team of twelve dogs will be set into action by your skilled musher who will guide the dog team into the forest as you circle the lake and head into the woods.
This activity is included in our winter activities afternoon where you will be joined by other guests who are booked on other activities at the VIllage. In addition to your Dog Team Ride Experience, you will enjoy a host of other winter fun including tubing on the giant slide, marshmallow roasting on the fire pit, and trying out the traditional snowshoes for a quick walk or photo op, etc all included in the tour price.
You will have about three hours to take in the winter afternoon in a safe, comfortable, and beautiful environment. We have heated washrooms, full A-La-Carte Restaurant for lunch and place to warm up where you can help yourself to complimentary hot drinks.
* Wheelchair Access – See our website for more details
Whether you are two, three or four people you can enjoy your experience. During some very busy periods, we may ask you to share the sled with new friends ( and other guests) – please let us know if you want your own private experience.
For an additional $50 per person, you can add our Snowshoeing OR Snowmobile experience on the same day. Additionally, in a combo, your guide would take you on guided Snowshoe Hike onto our land OR Snowmobiling on a hidden lake nearby. Please see the Winter Activities Package for details. Our office must know in advance.

Also, to experience the ride in minus 30 degrees centigrade temperatures or even colder (and with a little wind chill) you will soon find out why we do not offer longer rides!
