Ice Fishing Experience
Experience the traditional way the northern peoples have fished the lakes for many years – through the ice! The lakes surrounding Aurora Village are some of the best in the areas for Ice Fishing.
Explore the ice fishing holes and your guide will demonstrate how we ice fish so you can learn. Take your catch back to the Village and prepare your catch in a Teepee and enjoy fresh fish cooked on the open fire – add some local bannock and a little soup you enjoy a light and fresh northern meal
- Ice-fishing tour will be start from January.
After arriving at Aurora Village our local guide will meet you and take you down to a nearby lake – one of the best in the area for Ice Fishing. In a heated van, we explore the ice fishing holes and your guide will demonstrate how we ice fish and how we catch fish in the north. After pulling in the lines, hopefully, you are successful in catching something worthy of a photo opportunity. We then take your catch back to the village and into a Teepee where the guide will show you how to prepare fish and you can learn the real art to fishing – filleting. We then cook the fish over the open fire and with some local bannock and a little soup you enjoy a light and fresh northern meal.
This activity is included in our winter activities afternoon where you will be joined by other guests who are booked on other activities. In addition to your Fishing Experience, you can enjoy other winter fun including tubing on the giant slide, marshmallow roasting on the fire pit, trying out the traditional snowshoes for a quick walk for a photo op, etc all included in the tour price.
You will have about three hours to take in the winter afternoon in a safe, comfortable, and beautiful environment. We have heated washrooms, teepee with Warm Fire for lunch and place to warm up where you can help yourself to complimentary hot drinks.
NOTE: This tour is not available in a combo.
