Tour the city and learn about the history of Yellowknife from its beginnings of “streets paved with gold” to our deeply rooted Aboriginal culture. Visit local attractions explore old town and learn about the capital of the Northwest Territories. Then enjoy a boat tour on Great Slave Lake, the world’s 10th largest freshwater lake. You will cruise through the local houseboats, and past Latham and Jolliffe Island around Yellowknife Bay. Take in a view of the city from the water, and see the vast ocean-like lake stretch off into the distance…
This two-hour tour features stops at the Legislative Assembly of the NWT, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Center, a scenic drive through downtown and old town Yellowknife, and finishes at the Aurora Village Trading Post. In the summer we stop at Pilot’s Monument where you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of Great Slave Lake, Old Town, the city of Yellowknife and beyond.
Then its time to explore the lake. Our boat tour will cruise Yellowknife Bay on Great Slave Lake, the world’s 10th largest freshwater lake. You will cruise through the local houseboats, have a view of the city from the water, and see the vast ocean-like lake stretch off into the distance. You may see wild birds fly by, or bush planes taking-off and landing.
