Dog Team and Snowshoe Same day

Aurora Village is the best place to experience the beauty & wonder of the North. By day enjoy the village as a winter wonderland. Get into the dog sled and enjoy a dog team ride before getting closer to the land with our snowshoeing experience. We’ll show you how to wear traditional, wooden snowshoes and take you along the back trails from the picturesque Teepee Village through the surrounding forest.
Product Description
Enjoy two of our most popular daytime winter activities at Aurora Village. First – the dog team ride experience will take you on a traditional sled for an exciting ride on our frozen lake and through the wooded trails surrounding the Village. You can meet the dogs and enjoy learning about one of the most important modes of transport in the north. These dogs are essential life in arctic conditions and were relied on for centuries to stay alive. You will understand the community love and respect for animals in the Northwest Territories.
This activity is part of our winter activities afternoon where you will be joined by other guests who are booked on various other activities. In addition to your Dog Team Ride Experience, you will enjoy a host of other winter fun including tubing on the giant slide, marshmallow roasting on the fire pit, before trying out the traditional snowshoes for a guide cultural snowshoe tour in the forest surrounding Aurora Village and enjoy panoramic views over the frozen landscape.
You will have about three hours to take in the winter afternoon in a safe, comfortable, and beautiful environment. We have heated washrooms and place to warm up where you can help yourself to complimentary hot drinks.
What do I need to bring?
Winter clothing is essential – we rent winter clothing per day to Aurora Village guests.
Winter Activity Pickup Times.
Please be in the lobby of the hotel at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time. Our guides will be waiting in the lobby of the hotel. We do consider on-time departure important. We thank you for your cooperation!
